JMMB’s Manager Named President of Mandeville Chamber

Kenisha Dwyer-Powell, manager, client partnership at JMMB Investments – Mandeville branch, has been named the new president of the Mandeville Chamber of Commerce, following the Chamber’s annual general meeting (AGM) held on May 2 at the Golf View Hotel. 

Dwyer-Powell, has served the chamber as director of government & legal affairs, as well as business advocacy & development during the last two administrative year. An active member of the Manchester community, she has also served on the finance committee of Central Independent Baptist Church and founded The People’s Community Club in 2017 in Green Mount; and mentored youth as the youth leader at Central Baptist Church. On a professional level, the banker has amassed over 20 years in the local financial sector, having held several positions at prominent financial institutions. 

The newly installed core executive team also comprises of: Robert Howard of Spectrum Systems Limited and Diahn Soares-Ellis of Guardsman Armored Limited, who have been elected as first and second vice president respectively; and Phillippa Parkes-Oliphant of First Aid Group International & Divine Earth Group, who has been named, treasurer of the newly appointed board of directors of the Mandeville Chamber of Commerce. 

In addition to these elected positions, other members on the board of directors, will include: a secretary; director of communication and public affairs; director of membership; director of projects and events; director of government relations and economic development; and director of workforce development and education. 

“We are excited about the year ahead and the new initiatives that the Chamber will be able to roll-out, as we continue to advocate for a better community to live in, raise our families and do business. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve my community in this way and am pleased by the vote of confidence that the wider Chamber has expressed by electing me as president. I look forward to serving with dedication, love and from a servant heart,” said newly elected president, Kenisha. 

In articulating her vision, Dwyer-Powell outlined that among the areas of focus for the Chamber, in the upcoming year are: building out plans to awaken the community spirit of residents in Mandeville; strengthening partnerships between the businesses and the wider community; in addition to attracting new investment to the area. Of course, the executive team will meet to further strategize and concertize plans for the upcoming year.

She also acknowledged the efforts of the former leadership of the Mandeville Chamber of Commerce for the legacy established and for the strides made in developing Mandeville and its environs as a vibrant and economically viable community.
