JMMB Group Celebrates the Success of Another PowHerful Women in Business Programme Cohort

The JMMB Group, through the JMMB SME Resource Centre, recently celebrated the successful completion of the second cohort of its PowHerful Women in Business programme, a transformative initiative designed to empower female entrepreneurs across Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago. This year, the programme saw the participation of 35 dynamic women, each bringing their unique business ventures to the forefront, with graduation ceremonies held in each country, accommodating cohort members based on their respective locations.
The PowHerful Women in Business programme, launched in 2023, aims to provide women entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to thrive in the competitive business landscape. Participants represented a diverse array of industries, including healthcare, retail, education, agriculture, beauty and wellness, legal services, and more. Businesses ranged from micro to medium-sized enterprises, displaying the breadth of enterprising spirit among the cohort.
Throughout the programme, participants engaged in a series of comprehensive workshops designed to enhance their business acumen and leadership skills. The workshops covered critical topics such as: Strategies to Transform Your Business - focused on building scalable and sustainable business models, maximizing productivity, and preparing businesses for investment; How to Brand Yourself and Your Business - covering the importance of personal and business branding and how to leverage these brands to increase sales; Understanding Your Financials - providing insights into financial statements and key performance indicators essential for business health; and Conflict Management - teaching strategies for resolving conflicts and developing personal action plans for workplace situations.
Another key component of the programme was the inclusion of accountability partners, who played a crucial role in supporting participants. These partners, experienced professionals from various fields, provided guidance, tracked progress, and ensured that participants remained focused on their goals. They also helped to create a supportive community, fostering collaboration and mutual growth among the participants.
At the recent graduation ceremony held in Jamaica, Shani Duncan-Falconer, head of the JMMB SME Resource Centre, delivered an inspiring commencement speech. She highlighted the remarkable achievements of the participants and encouraged them to continue breaking barriers and reshaping industries. "You are not just business owners; you are trailblazers, role models, and changemakers," she said. "Your success is not just about revenue and profits—it is about creating opportunities, uplifting others, and leaving a legacy."
The programme's success is a testament to the participants' hard work and the comprehensive support system provided by the JMMB Group. The workshops, accountability partners, and the overall structure of the programme have equipped these women with the skills and confidence needed to excel in their respective fields. In addition, participants were exposed to the wide array of financial solutions offered by the JMMB Group, spanning banking, investments, retirement, insurance, and merchant solutions.
