JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation Helps Tertiary Students Thrive with $1M Food Bank Donation

In a continued demonstration of its commitment to nation-building and empowering lives, the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation has donated J$1 million to the GK Campus Connect Food Bank, an initiative of the GraceKennedy Foundation that supports tertiary-level students facing food insecurity.
Launched in 2019, the GK Campus Connect Food Bank provides nutritious meals to university students who struggle to afford food while pursuing their education. Many of these students rely on financial assistance that covers tuition and academic expenses, leaving little to no room for basic needs such as meals. The Food Bank has become a vital support system, helping students thrive by ensuring access to healthy food.
This latest contribution from the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation will directly benefit 200 students, helping to alleviate hunger and support their academic journey.
“At the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation, we believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to succeed, and that includes having access to basic necessities like food,” said Kim Mair, CEO of the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation. “This initiative aligns with our mission to support transformational projects that uplift communities and empower individuals. We are honoured to partner with the GraceKennedy Foundation in this meaningful work and invite others to join us in creating a more equitable and compassionate society.”
The Foundation’s support reflects its core values of love, care, and inclusivity, and its belief that true transformation begins with meeting people where they are and helping them rise. By investing in initiatives like the GK Campus Connect Food Bank, the Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in shaping a future where no student is held back by hunger.
The GraceKennedy Foundation expressed deep appreciation for the donation, noting the tangible impact it has had on students’ lives and the importance of sustained partnerships in addressing food insecurity.
The JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation encourages other corporate entities and individuals to support the GK Campus Connect Food Bank and similar initiatives that foster resilience and hope among Jamaica’s youth.
