JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation Mobilizes Support for Communities Most Impacted by Hurricane Melissa

10 November 2025

In response to the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, the JMMB Group, through its philanthropic arm, the JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation, has committed an initial $25 million toward immediate relief efforts to support communities hardest hit across western Jamaica.

Working in partnership with the Council of Voluntary Social Services (CVSS), Project STAR, and other charitable organisations, the Foundation has begun distributing urgently needed care packages, including food and essential supplies, to families in affected areas such as Savanna-la-Mar and Montego Bay. These efforts are being coordinated with the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) and guided by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) to ensure timely and effective delivery.

“As a company founded on the core value of love, we are deeply moved by the suffering caused by Hurricane Melissa,” said Kim Mair, CEO, JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation. “We have already begun mobilizing our relief efforts to support the communities most affected, and we remain committed to standing with them—not just in this moment of crisis, but in the days and months ahead. Our hearts go out to every individual and family impacted. We are with you.”

In addition to its short-term response, the Foundation has earmarked funding for long-term rehabilitation and reconstruction initiatives, which will be developed in collaboration with community partners. These projects will be guided by the evolving needs of the affected communities, with a focus on sustainable recovery and resilience. Underscoring the Group’s long-term commitment to national recovery, Senator the Honourable Keith Duncan, OJ, CEO of the JMMB Group, stated, “The strength and spirit of the Jamaican people have always been a beacon of hope. In the face of adversity, we rise, rebuild, and renew. At JMMB, we are committed to walking alongside our communities—not just in this moment, but for the long haul—as we work together to restore what was lost and build an even stronger Jamaica.”

This initiative reflects the JMMB Group’s enduring commitment to community, togetherness, and national healing. Already, our team members have begun volunteering their time to help pack and prepare care packages for distribution—demonstrating the spirit of unity and service

that defines our organisation. In moments like these, JMMB stands with Jamaica as we build, restore, and rise again. We understand that this is a time for compassion, unity, and community—a time to rebuild together. We will rise stronger, more connected, as we continue to grow in love.
