JMMB Group All-Woman Event Discusses Reproductive Journey & Parenting

15 November 2017

The reproductive journey and issues surrounding it, such as parenting, infertility, options for conceiving, recovering from miscarriage and th associated financial obligations; which are typically spoken about behind closed doors and in hushed tones, will be the focal point of discussion at the upcoming JMMB Her Wealth seminar. The event, which is slated for this Saturday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m., at the company’s New Kingston-based head office, will give an all-female audience an opportunity to explore these issues, in an interactive and thought-provoking environment.

Experts, Michelle Gordon, parenting lifestyle consultant and editor of B3 Parenting Magazine will share insights on positive parenting practices and coping mechanisms; while associate psychologist, Sonia Wynter of Family Life Ministries will speak to the psycho-social issues surrounding the reproductive journey. Also sharing on the occasion, Dr. Jody-Ann Jarrett, chief medical officer at Sylvan Family Care and consultant obstetrician/ gynaecologist at Gynae Associates will address the biological process and issues related to reproduction.

In explaining the relevance of this event, Felecia Williams, corporate manager, marketing at JMMB Group notes, “With November being celebrated as Parents Month, we saw this as an opportunity to shed some light on one of the issues affecting parents and expectant parents, namely women – along the reproductive journey.” She goes further stating that the reproductive process especially in the Jamaican society, is a sensitive and topical issue; with cultural norms and traditions that seem to place added pressure on women at childbearing age to become mothers. As such the event provides an opportunity to create a sisterhood of support and share expertise that can assist women to transform their mindset and provide financial solutions that can aid them in dealing with these issues, recognizing that they are not alone along the journey.

The seminar will also segue to a testimonial section with Juliet Cuthbert, Olympian, fitness expert and politician who will share her views on delayed parenting, in addition to Natalie Outar, popularly known as Natalia Oh, marketing consultant and lifestyle blogger, who will address single parenting.

The seminar, which is the second in the quarterly series, is in keeping with the company’s objective to provide financial education to its clients and the investing public, by pairing lifestyle-related topics with financial issues. It also follows on the commitment of JMMB Group on rolling out its Her Wealth campaign to empower women by addressing an array of issues that affect them.

The event forms a part of a series of all-women lifestyle events organized by JMMB Group to complement its JMMB Her Wealth packaged financial solution launched earlier this year. The solution is designed to respond to the perceived gaps identified by women in the financial sector and help to empower women by offering them a complete financial solution that includes: investments, loans, savings, insurance offerings and a rewards programme.
